The Florida Senior Medicare Patrol (SMP) is looking to recruit and train volunteers to educate Medicare beneficiaries and caregivers on Medicare fraud, waste and abuse.
SMP will host an “SMP Foundations Training” on Friday, July 22nd, 2011 at 9:30a.m. The training will take place at the Senior Friendship Center located at 2350 Scenic Drive in Venice. The goal of the training is to provide volunteers with a foundation of knowledge in the areas of the SMP Program, Medicare Basics and Medicare Fraud & Abuse.
The problem we face today is an estimated $68 billion dollars that is lost to fraud at the national level each year. In Florida however, it is estimated that the cost of fraud on taxpayers is $3 to $4 billion dollars annually. This is why we need your help.
SMP Foundations Training will start promptly at 9:30am; media outlets are welcomed.
