Crossover Church has been impacting the Tampa urban community since the 1990’s.
Their previous home in a low-income neighborhood near Lowry Park Zoo had just 6,600 square feet of space; and grew from 40 to over 500 people.
In early 2010, Crossover sold the former campus and began meeting at a hotel as their new space was under construction. In November of 2010 Crossover held their grand opening at the new 43,000 square foot facility (The former Toys R Us) building on Fowler Ave, near the University of South Florida. Pastor Tommy Kyllonen, the former youth minister who took over as lead pastor in 2002, has steered this congregation from about 40 members to over 1,000 members.
Outreach Magazine named Crossover as one of the most innovative churches in America for their unique approach to reaching out to urban/hip-hop culture.
Crossover church moved into the community known as University West or
“Suitcase City” as they saw all the needs and huge potential. Most churches have left this area, but Crossover is planning on planting their roots and growing.
