You'll see the process of canning vegetables, step by step. We'll discuss how to can meat or seafood too. You'll be at the stove, checking out the canner.
You'll learn: what's safe, what's not, and why.
- What equipment and ingredients you need.
- How different pressure canners operate.
- What the best resources and recipes are.
- How to choose the best produce.
- How to store your home-made goodies.
There will be time for all your questions!
If you have a dial canner, we can test the dial for you.
We'll have the new USDA Guide to Home Canning available for sale. You will also get recipes and directions to take home.
The class is free, but we will ask for a $5 donation at the door to cover the cost of supplies.
We'll can carrots in the interest of time, and discuss the procedures for meats, seafood and other products.
