Please join the Peace River Audubon Society for their October field to Myakka River State Park on Saturday, October 16th. We will meet at 7 AM, at the North
carpool location which is at the parking lot behind the McDonald's on Peachland near King's Hwy. From there we will go to Myakka River State Park by traveling King's Hwy (769) to State Road 72. Along Rt 72, crested caracaras are frequently seen. At the park there is a state park admission fee for which each car of participants will be responsible. We will stop near the river to walk a trail to observe wading birds which often include roseate spoonbills. From there, we will go to the birdwalk which extends into the lake. Many of the migratory birds regularly seen in the park will not be back yet, but we should still see a variety of birds including turkeys, ospreys, eagles, and on some trails, Northern bobwhites can be observed. Dress for the field and bring water, insect repellent,
and sunscreen. Bring a picnic lunch and we can picnic next to the lake under the oaks near the visitor center. Contact Shannon McGinnis at 941- 258-6363, if you have questions. All of our field trips, WalkAbout, and meetings are free and open to the public. Please visit www.PeaceRiverAudbon .com for our complete schedule.
