Temple Sinai Reform

At Temple Sinai, among our over 920 members (families and singles -- 1625 adults), you'll find Jews of all ages, color, complexions, interests, family status, and levels of belief and conviction.

On a typical Friday at Temple Sinai, the pre-school kids are singing, dancing and eating a rainbow-colored home-made Challah with their parents and our clergy at a noon-time Kabbalat Shabbat, while our Seniors schmooze and have lunch with the Rabbi, and our custodians are busy setting up for the weekly Oneg that Shabbat evening. We try to satisfy all appetites for Jewish soul-food, spiritual and physical.

We approach God through song, music, prayer, and meditation as we seek a harmonious blend of traditional ritual and contemporary creativity.
We pray in the historic monument Sanctuary or in our Chapel, but we also pray with our feet as we go out into the Oakland community through our many social action programs.

We look for ways to serve and help each other, in moments of sadness and moments of joy. And we seek out ways to be part of our larger community, where we can represent those values that make us proud of our Jewish heritage of social justice, caring, community, commitment to Tikkun Olam/making the world a better place.
