Join us for a viewing and discussion of a documentary based on Dave Zirin’s 2008 book A People’s History of Sports in the United States. In this film Zirin tells of an alternate history of political struggle in America: that instead of being simply escapist entertainment, twentieth-century sports have consistently reflected hegemonic discourses, specifically in regards to nationalism, war, gender, race, homosexuality, and capitalism.
