Audubon's first walkabout of the season, will be to Charlotte
Harbor Environmental Center (CHEC) located at 10941 Burnt Store
Rd. The Peace River Audubon Society founded the Environ-
mental Center in 1987, and we continue to be one of the
corporate sponsors, so it is fitting that we should plan our
first walk there. The walk will begin on Tuesday, October 7th at
8:00 AM. We will have the opportunity to take several
of the nature trails, and there is a screened picnic area if you
would like to bring your lunch. The eagles are back and will start
nesting soon, so hopefully we'll get to see them. We also may be
able to see some migrating warblers. Binoculars will be available
to those who would like them. This is also the season to enjoy
Beauty Berry, Winged Sumac, and a host of other plants that
bloom in the fall. Please come prepared with mosquito spray,
hiking shoes, water, and sun screen. If you have any questions
about the trip, please call Phyllis Cady at 941-575-4009.
Hope to see you in the parking lot at 8:00!
