Please join the Peace River Audubon Society for the April Walkabout on April 5th at the Charlotte Flatwoods Environmental Park at 8 AM. This county park is 487 acres of pine flatwoods and marshy wetlands. We will be taking the trail around the marsh, but if other trails are dry, we may do some exploring. This park has a variety of wildlife, including otters and alligators, and of course, birds. Species that we may see are Bluebirds, Brown-headed nuthatch, Sandhill cranes, and Bald eagles. On occasion, Red-cockaded woodpeckers have been seen, as this property is
part of the Babcock/Webb wildlife corridor.
If you would like more information, call Phyllis at 941- 286-7638. If you are heading south on 41, Charlotte Flatwoods is located on the right, before you
get to Zemel Rd. Please dress appropriately, bring water, and insect repellent. Bring cameras, as the view of the marsh is pristine.
Hope to see you there!
