The Veterans’ Memorial Monument of Plant City, which was dedicated July 1, 2010, was designed and constructed by artist Duane Scott of Sarasota, The spirit of the monument, Freedom Rising, is depicted in the image of a bronze eagle with outstretched wings atop a six-sided, black granite pedestal. Located in the center of Courier Field, the monument pays tribute to veterans of all five branches of service: Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, Marines, and Navy. Freedom Rising is surrounded by a beautifully land-scaped park paved with 8,000 red bricks laid in an interlocking pattern. The bricks are available for engraving in tribute to area veterans. The bricked walkways intersect the park, which features a Grand Gazebo and flagpole surrounded by flowering gardens of over 450 plants in patriotic blooms of red, white, and blue. Visitors can take their leisure on the beautiful wrought-iron benches amid decorative lamp posts located strategically throughout the park.
