Be prepared for change if you're planning to visit Clearwater Beach soon. The area is in the process of completing the "Beach Walk" – a winding beachside promenade with new outdoor restaurants and shops.
The project, designed to revitalize the beach, will put the area under construction and could cause more traffic halts and congestion than usual.
Get there early, because parking lots are slim and metered spots will be at a premium. Bring quarters, and lots of them. If you don't use them on parking, you can always use them for the beachside vending machines or snack bars.
Once construction is completed, beachgoers will see a winding beachside promenade with new outdoor restaurants and shops.
This won't disturb the fun activities happening at Pier 60. Along the pier, artisans sell handmade beach jewelry, blown-glass figures and souvenirs. Temporary tattoos, henna body paint and hair braids are other options.
If you want relaxation and shade, you can rent it. Kick your feet up on the rental chairs and cool off under the umbrella rentals which are readily available early in the day. Chairs aren't your only rental opportunities; parasail and Jet Ski rentals are also offered.
Clearwater's award-winning beach is covered in white powder sand and more than likely heated with the strong Florida sun, so pack your sunscreen. Once you get through the traffic and pick your spot, a day here is well worth the effort.
