On Sunday, Oct. 18. 8 AM, join us to enjoy a slow-paced 5-mile walk looking for Florida wildflowers in Edward W. Chance Reserve/Coker Prairie Tract. This 1,200-acre tract in East Manatee County is managed by the Southwest Florida Water Management District. Walk on sandy roads in scrub habitat in full sun (an umbrella helps) with possible scrub jay and gopher tortoise sightings. The fall flowers promise to be spectacular. Bring water, sunscreen, insect repellent and a snack. Sponsored by the Manatee-Sarasota Sierra Club. Donation $5. A carpool will meet at 7:30 AM at 34300 State Road 64 East. Reserve with Mary Sheppard at 941-752-3200 or Cathy Page at 941-795-8973
