think + drink (science) – Manatees and Mermaids w/ Dr. James “Buddy” Powell

Dr. James “Buddy” Powell, one of the world’s foremost authorities on manatees. A Pew Fellow in Marine Conservation, he started his career as a teenager working with Jacques Cousteau on the first documentary on manatees. Dr. Powell’s research has taken him recently to Cuba to help start a manatee conservation program. He will be sharing his insights into the cultural relationships between manatees and mermaids and what can be done to help conserve the species here in Florida.
